About Malaysia Think Tank London

The Malaysia Think Tank London (MTT) aims to produce forward-thinking solutions for Malaysia by:

  • Encouraging the adoption of classical liberal ideas in Malaysia by publishing relevant materials and hosting events to promote them
  • Commissioning new research articles by thinkers with fresh perspectives
  • Organising lectures and seminars to enable frank discussion with policymakers, academics, leading figures in civil society, the business community and other professionals
  • Producing policy proposals underpinned by robust research to directly tackle issues of public concern
  • Providing a platform where Malaysians of all ethnic and religious backgrounds can advance the ideals of liberty and justice espoused in the Proclamation of Independence and Federal Constitution

We are driven by classical liberal ideas. We believe in the principles of personal responsibility, limited government, the rule of law and market solutions. We want to encourage people to consider a future in which Malaysians are limited only by their own ambitions. We believe that limited, decentralised government can provide an environment where citizens and civil society can realise this vision. We invite everyone with an interest in the future of Malaysia to think, contribute and debate with us.

The Malaysia Think Tank London is a company limited by guarantee, registered in England and Wales (no: 05980232). We are an independent non-profit organisation and surpluses are reinvested into projects. In addition to our base in London, we have a presence in Kuala Lumpur and a network of like-minded organisations in Washington DC. This gives us access to prominent academics, politicians, leading figures in civil society, the business community and other prominent professionals, as well as current and future Malaysian policymakers.
